News Release: Small Town, Big Business
Within Johnstown, you’ll find hidden gems everywhere. It’s a place where people care for one another and build each other up. It’s also an environment where families and businesses thrive, and one reason may be the prominent women of the business community who balance both.
Johnstown has been an up and coming area for entrepreneurs for some time. In the last thirteen months, six women-owned businesses have opened their doors in the small downtown community and of more than 50 businesses that are located downtown, over half of them are owned and operated by women.
Owner of Fitness Avenue and active member of the community, Trish Yost stated, “I absolutely love this place we get to call home! I love that our community has generational depth combined with younger businesses and families who come together to share something very special in Johnstown. The combination of driving businesses, led by women who lift each other up is unique and really a large part of why I’m so excited to work together with these dynamic women!”
Over the years, these women have built friendships and encouraged each other not just in business but in achieving the balance of family and work.
“Being a business owner, wife and mother is about balance and quality of life.” said Veronica Schlagel of State Farm. “Being present whether it be at business or with my family. Eliminating the commute and taking a risk of moving my office from Denver to the town I live in makes my goal achievable and livable,”
Recently, a few of the business owners met to establish the Johnstown Downtown Development Association. This group will be focused on creating events and programming with the goal to increase business success in the downtown area. Their new Facebook page can be found here.
